I was introduced to Mr. Rodney Falls, President of Chiliad Partners in the summer of 2003. Chiliad had control of a vacant parcel of land critical to the Village economic development strategy, and proposed a multifamily residential housing development. At that time, I was Mayor-elect of the Village of Hazel Crest. After discussing Village plans for the area, Chiliad revised its development plans and secured Board approval for a 62,000 SF medical office building. Chiliad also gained Village approval for a Class 8 property tax incentive.

The project was, by all means a major success and has benefited the local economy by creating permanent jobs and increasing the commercial tax base. Further, the development is home to more than 20 healthcare enterprises, providing vital community services such as primary and specialty medical care, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy and physical therapy services.

As the project has been an asset to the community, I look forward to working with Chiliad Partners in my current role as Director of Economic Opportunity for Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias.
